Front Cover Ideas

compnents to make a front cover:

·         Appealing picture- maybe of students in their lesson, this could be so the parents get a feel of how their child’s lessons look like and therefore engage them to read. The picture can also have a comedic element to it as your friends could point you out and laugh, which encourages the students to read on so target audience, is met.

·         Short and snappy text on the front cover dotted around the main image. This is so when they are finished unconsciously making theory’s about the magazine they are about to read.

·         Appealing headline titles-to encourage them to read on.

·         Text has to be an upbeat tone, it needs to be formal but some informal writing is okay as long as there is no slang.

·        Engaging activity like a competition.

·         Graphics to be eye-catching.

·         Contents pages calendar, to engage the reader’s attention to important dates in the school year.

Articles spoilers on the front cover to make the reader want to read into the story.

·         Also articles about:

Success story

Something about the latest books

Student written articles

Student work

Changes in the school

University information

Interview with a teacher

Interview with an examiner

How?

All of these ideas, if they were incorporated into my school magazine from what I have researched, would make an appealing magazine that not only parents and staff would read but, the students would as well.

Names for my school magazine:

·         Smartness

·         Once upon a Corby business academy (CBA)

·         Chronicles of Corby.

I have decided to go with ‘once upon a CBA’ as my title for my school magazine as I feel I can take the magazine in all sorts of directions just by using this name.

Feature Titles:

·         Student told they can’t achieve a C but they did!

·         GCSE results best thing ever!

·         Plans to change

·         The students talks

·         The teacher talks

·         The examiner talks

·         Student master piece
